Im Frühjahr 2004 verschwindet ein 15-jähriger Oberschüler aus einem Ort im Landkreis Donau-Ries. Seine grausam zugerichtete Leiche wird nur vier Tage später in einem Waldstück aufgefunden. Eine Sonderkommission nimmt die Ermittlungen auf. Die Polizei findet über eine Dating-Plattform heraus, dass sich der 15-Jährige am Nachmittag seines Verschwindens mit einem Mann verabredet hatte. Von dem sollte er für sexuelle Dienstleistungen 300 Euro bekommen. Die Ermittler veröffentlichen eine Phantomzeichnung des Mannes, in dessen Begleitung der Teenager zuletzt gesehen wurde. Und tatsächlich: Es meldet sich der Wirt einer Gaststätte, der den Unbekannten wiederzuerkennen glaubt. Polizeidirektor Manfred Gigl, damals noch bei der Polizeidirektion Dillingen, hat die Ermittlungen in dem Mordfall geleitet. Im Aufnahmestudio berichtet er Rudi Cerne und Conny Neumeyer von über 200 Vernehmungen und mehr als 400 Spuren, denen er und seine Kolleginnen und Kollegen nachgegangen sind – und das mit Erfolg. Denn sechs Wochen nach dem Mord an dem Schüler gelingt es der Soko, ein Täter-Duo zu überführen. Im Interview zu dieser Folge: Lothar Almaschan. Er war der Lehrer des ermordeten Jungen. Er erzählt, wie sehr ihn die Umstände der Tat bis heute beschäftigen. Mit den Mitschülerinnen und Mitschülern hat er seinerzeit eine besondere Form des Gedenkens an den toten Jungen gefunden.

My favorite moment was right after we finished….a gent from Ireland came up to me, thanked me/us for bringing such joy all around and working so hard….and he wanted to give a little back. He then took my hand and sang a Gaelic song to me. It was moving. Nothing like the Irish spirit to lift you up.  Thanks for keeping the spirit alive brother."
